This Privacy Policy describes how Makonome ("we", "us", or "our") handles your information when you use the Makonome app ("App"). We are committed to protecting your privacy and being transparent about our practices.
1. Who We Are

2. Data We Collect
2.1 Data Stored Locally on Your Device
The following data is stored exclusively on your device and is never transmitted to us or any third party:
- Practice session history – dates, duration, BPM, time signature, and notes for each practice session you record
- App usage time – total time you have spent using the App (used to display your practice stats)
- App settings and preferences – your chosen sounds, BPM, time signature, subdivisions, themes, and presets
- Trial and purchase status – whether your free trial is active and whether you have unlocked Makonome Pro
This data is stored using Apple's standard local storage (UserDefaults) on your device. It is not backed up to our servers. If you delete the App, this data is permanently deleted.
2.2 Analytics Data (Amplitude)
We use Amplitude to collect anonymous, aggregated analytics data to understand how the App is used and to improve it. This may include:
- App opens and session duration
- Features used (e.g. which metronome controls are tapped)
- Device type, operating system version, and app version
- General geographic region (country level)
- Crash and error events
This data does not include your name, email, practice session content, or precise location.

2.3 In-App Purchases
In-App Purchases are processed entirely by Apple through the App Store. We do not collect or store your payment information. Apple's privacy policy applies to all payment processing: apple.com/legal/privacy
2.4 Microphone (Tempo Detection)
If you use the Tempo Detection feature, the App will request access to your microphone. Audio is processed in real-time on your device solely to detect tempo. No audio is recorded, stored, or transmitted.
3. How We Use Your Data

4. Data Sharing
We do not sell, rent, or share your personal data with third parties, except:
- Amplitude – anonymous analytics as described above
- Apple – in-app purchase processing
- Legal requirements – if required by law or to protect our legal rights
5. Your Rights (GDPR)
If you are located in the European Economic Area (EEA), you have the following rights under the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR):
- Right of access – request a copy of data we hold about you
- Right to rectification – request correction of inaccurate data
- Right to erasure – request deletion of your data
- Right to data portability – request your data in a portable format
- Right to object – object to certain types of processing
- Right to withdraw consent – withdraw consent at any time

Legal basis for processing: We process analytics data based on our legitimate interest in improving the App. You may opt out by contacting us.
6. Data Retention
- Local data: Retained on your device until you delete the App or clear its data
- Analytics data: Retained by Amplitude per their data retention policy (up to 2 years by default)
7. Children's Privacy
The App is not directed at children under 13 years of age. We do not knowingly collect personal data from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided us with personal data, please contact us at metronome.app@gmail.com.
8. Data Security
Local data is protected by your device's built-in security (encryption, passcode/Face ID). Analytics data is transmitted to Amplitude over encrypted connections (HTTPS).
9. Future Features
We may introduce new features (such as AI-powered coaching) that involve cloud processing. If this occurs, we will update this Privacy Policy and notify you before any changes take effect.
10. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of significant changes by updating the "Last updated" date and, where appropriate, through an in-app notice.
